Day 1: You Were Chosen Before You Were Born

Think about the last time you felt truly chosen. Maybe it was being picked for a team, landing a job, or having someone choose to love you. That feeling runs deep because we were made for it. Here is the thing: before you ever took your first breath, God already chose you. Not because of what you would accomplish or how well you would perform. He chose you simply because He wanted to. That is not a small thing. That is everything. Ephesians 1 tells us that God chose us before He even created the world. He looked ahead, saw you fully, and said yes. He knew every mistake you would make, every moment you would fall short, and He still chose you. So many of us spend our lives trying to earn a sense of belonging. We chase achievements, relationships, and milestones hoping they will finally make us feel worthy. But that finish line keeps moving. What if the belonging you have been chasing was already yours? You are chosen by God. That is your starting point, not something you work toward. Let that truth settle into the places where you have felt overlooked, unwanted, or not enough. You are seen. You are known. And you are chosen.

Day 2: You Give God Great Pleasure

When is the last time someone told you that your very existence brought them joy? Not what you did, not what you produced, just you. God feels that way about you. Ephesians 1 says that He adopted us into His family because He wanted to, and it gave Him great pleasure. Read that again slowly. It gave Him great pleasure. You are not a burden to God. You are not a project He reluctantly took on. You are someone He delights in. We live in a world that constantly measures our worth by our output. How productive were you today? How successful are you? What have you accomplished lately? That kind of thinking is exhausting, and it was never meant to define you. Tom Brady, one of the most decorated athletes in history, admitted that even at the height of his success, something still felt missing. Achievement alone cannot fill the space that was designed for something deeper. What fills that space is knowing you are genuinely loved and delighted in by the God who made you. Not for what you do, but for who you are. You give Him great pleasure. Maybe you needed to hear that today more than anything else.

Day 3: Faultless in His Eyes

Most of us carry a running list of our failures. The things we said that we wish we could take back. The choices we made when the pressure got high. The ways we have let people down, including ourselves. Here is what is remarkable about the grace of God. He sees all of it, every bit of it, and He still chooses to see you as faultless. Not because He is ignoring your sin, but because Jesus took it. That is what the cross accomplished. That is the gift. Ephesians 1 says God chose us to be holy and without fault in His eyes. Not without fault in our own eyes. Not without fault in the eyes of the people around us. In His eyes. And His perspective is the one that matters most. This is not a license to stop caring about how we live. It is actually the opposite. When you truly understand that you are already seen as faultless through Jesus, the pressure to perform for God lifts. And in its place grows a genuine desire to live in a way that reflects who He says you are. You do not have to clean yourself up before coming to God. You come as you are, and He meets you there, already calling you faultless.

Day 4: Identity Before Mission

There is a pattern most of us follow without realizing it. We think that if we just behave better, follow the right rules, and do the right things, we will eventually feel like the person we want to be. But that approach puts the cart before the horse, and it quietly makes us the ones in charge of our own transformation. When Jesus met Paul on the road to Damascus, He did not hand Him a to-do list. He gave him a new identity first. Only after that did the mission follow. That order was not accidental. It is the same order Paul uses in Ephesians. Three chapters on who you are in Christ. Then three chapters on how to live. Grace comes before obedience. Belonging comes before mission. Identity comes before behavior. When we flip that order, faith becomes exhausting. It becomes a performance we can never quite nail. But when we start from a place of knowing who we are in Jesus, the way we live begins to shift naturally. Not because we are trying harder, but because we are living from something real. You do not have to earn your way into a new identity. You already have one. Start there, and let everything else follow.

Knowing something and living from it are two very different things. You might know that God chose you, that He delights in you, that He sees you as faultless through Jesus. But knowing it in your head and actually walking in it every day is where the real work happens. Paul's life after Damascus was not perfect. He faced hardship, opposition, and his own struggles. But something had fundamentally changed. He was no longer living for an identity built on achievement and reputation. He was living from an identity rooted in Jesus. And that made all the difference. The more time we spend with Jesus, the more we begin to look like Him. Not because we are white-knuckling our way through a list of rules, but because identity is contagious. When you know who you are, it changes how you move through the world. You are chosen. You are loved. You are faultless in His eyes. You give God great pleasure. These are not motivational phrases. They are the truest things about you. So today, and every day this week, let those truths be the ground you stand on. Not your performance, not your reputation, not your failures. Just this: you are chosen, so live like it.
